Rekha calls me “Ravya”. As you know, Ravi is my real name. Rekha and I have done about 30 films together, some hits and some super hits. I’m always reminded of her terrific acting skills and utmost professionalism. I have spoken about this before, but I will reiterate, she goes out of her way to do things for people. I remember once I had to solve some income tax problems. My chartered accountant told me that the officer in charge was a huge Rekha fan and would be only too happy to meet her.

I called up Rekha and explained my problem to her, she said “No problem Ravya, I’ll be there.” She reached my home at the appointed time. She went out of her way to be cordial with the officer. What’s more she even served him snacks with her own hands. The fan boy was floored and my tax problems were all sorted . Now you tell me, who does that? Unless it’s a true friend. There have been so many instances where she’s just been there rock solid.

Recently I was watching a song from Ek Hi Bhool (1981)… Bekhudi ka bada sahara.. what beautiful lines Anand Bakshi ji wrote. Log marte hain maut aane se… humko toh zindagi ne maara hai…

There’s another mukhda in the same song and the lines are… Doobte jaa rahe hai dekho…aur saamne kinaara hai… that “kinaara” is Rekha in the film, truly in more ways than one. Rekha is my jaan. She’s a yaaron ka yaar. I wish her lots and lots of happiness always.
