Filmfare Award-Winning movies of Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan celebrates his birthday today, marking another year in his evergreen career that has spanned decades. He is regarded as one of the most accomplished and revered actors in the Indian film industry. On his birthday, we honour the powerhouse of talent and a look back at his long-standing association with Filmfare. 

Here are the Filmfare Awards that the actor won for his films.

Anand
Amitabh Bachchan won his first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for the 1971 film Anand starring Rajesh Khanna in the lead. The film also won the Filmfare Award for Best Film in 1972.
Namak Haraam

Namak Haram fetched Big B his second Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, the film also starred Rajesh Khanna, Rekha, Asrani, Raza Murad and Simi Garewal.
Amar Akbar Anthony
Manmohan Desai’s Amar Akbar Anthony bagged several Filmfare Awards, including Best Actor (Amitabh Bachchan), Best Music Director and Best Editing. This was his first Filmfare Best Actor Award.

Don

A cult classic Bollywood film, Don fetched Mr Bachchan the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 1979. It was directed by Chandra Barot and starred Zeenat Aman, Pran, Iftekar, Om Shivpuri and Satyen Kappu.
Hum

Hum received as many as 7 nominations at the 37th Filmfare Awards. The Mukul S Anand directorial bagged four awards, including the Filmfare Best Actor Award for Amitabh Bachchan.
Mohabbatein

The Aditya Chopra directorial saw two superstars – Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan come together on-screen along with an ensemble cast. Mohabbatein received 12 nominations and won 4 awards at the 46th Filmfare Awards and Big B won the award for Best Supporting Actor.

Aks

Aks, a supernatural action thriller film by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, won three awards at the 47th Filmfare Awards and Amitabh Bachchan won the Best Actor (Critics) Award.

Black

The story of the film was inspired by the life of Helen Keller and it went on to become a successful commercial Hindi film, receiving several accolades. Mr Bachchan won the Best Actor Award and Best Actor (Critics) Award at the 51st Filmfare Awards.  

Paa

With the film Paa, we saw Amitabh Bachchan break several barriers. The veteran actor played the role of a 12-year-old boy with a rare genetic condition. Playing the role of his father was Big B’s son Abhishek Bachchan. He received his fifth Filmfare Award for Best Actor for the R. Balki directorial.

Piku

A heartwarming tale of a father and daughter, Piku saw Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, along with Irrfan Khan, Jisshu Sengupta, Moushumi Chatterjee and Raghubir Yadav. The Shoojit Sircar directorial received 8 nominations at the 61st Filmfare Awards and Amitabh Bachchan received the Best Actor (Critics) award.
Gulabo Sitabo

Gulabo Sitabo is another Shoojit Sircar-Amitabh Bachchan collaboration where the latter played the role of an old miser. He bagged the Best Actor (Critics) Award for the film.
