Filmfare Exclusive: Rakul Preet Singh on being replaced in Mr. Perfect

In the latest episode of In The Ring With Filmfare, Rakul Preet Singh opened up about being replaced in the 2011 hit film Mr. Perfect. The actress shared that she had shot for four days when the production decided to recast her with Kajal Aggarwal. The decision, Rakul explained, was purely a business move, as Kajal and Prabhas had just delivered a blockbuster together.
“I had already shot for a few days when the producers decided to repeat the same casting. It was absolutely a business call, and a sensible one at that. When a pair works and delivers a hit, it’s normal to want to recreate that success,” Rakul revealed. “At the time, I didn’t even know the full reason. I was told to go back and wait for the next schedule, and then I found out I’d been replaced once I was back in Delhi.”
Despite the disappointment, Rakul didn’t let it shake her spirit. She chose to remain positive and embrace the belief that better opportunities were ahead. “I actually said to myself, ‘OK, I guess there’s something better for me.’ Even today, I truly believe I’m God’s child. I will get what is meant for me, even if it takes time,” she said.
Her resilient mindset, fostered by her upbringing and personal faith, has guided her throughout her career. “You can’t put all your hopes on one thing. If not this, then that. It’s an ongoing journey, and you never stop trying,” she added, reflecting on the perseverance needed in the entertainment industry.
