Karan Johar on SOTY stars Alia Varun and Sidharth

Karan Johar took a nostalgic trip down memory lane as he marked 12 years of his directorial Student Of The Year (SOTY), which introduced Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra to the world of cinema. The filmmaker shared unseen behind-the-scenes pictures from the set, reminiscing about what he described as the “best time of his life.” 

Sharing his joy, Karan wrote, “12 years and I look back at the film I embarked on, solely to have the best time of my life. And best time, it was!” Student Of The Year has since become a milestone for the three debutants, who have now become leading names in the industry.

Earlier Alia Bhatt reflected on her debut, mentioning that she would love for her daughter Raha to watch SOTY. “It’s full of songs, and I think she would really enjoy that,” she said.

As for their careers, the trio continues to make waves, with Alia gearing up for Alpha, Varun working on Citadel: Honey Bunny, and Sidharth rumoured to reunite with wife Kiara Advani for a romantic project.
