Shah Rukh Khan: An invisible chord binds Aamir Khan Salman Khan and me

2 min read

Shah Rukh Khan’s words are as entertaining as his films. The best part of SRK’s interviews is the fact that they age better than the best wine in the world. Go back to SRK’s interviews and quotes from the early 90s and you’ll discover that his thoughts and opinions are still relevant to date. In fact, Shah Rukh’s ability of self-deprecating humour and his penchant for articulating complex emotions is endearing to say the least.

On SRK’s 59th birthday, we bring you quotes from his past interviews published in Filmfare magazine. These are just a few highlights, we thought you should read through to appreciate King Khan’s wit and wisdom, presented in bite-sized nuggets. Read on…

“The first time I got a medal in school, which was in standard three, I came running home to show it to my mother. She wasn’t there. It was very sad. The first I’m getting an award from the film industry, she still isn’t here.” This was Shah Rukh Khan’s reaction recorded in a special Filmfare issue on the occasion of him receiving the Sensational Debut Award at the 1992 Filmfare Awards.

“Granted that I’m stylish but then I’m not a method actor. I’m Shah Rukh Khan first and then the character I play” – SRK revealed this self appraisal in an exclusive interview printed in Filmfare’s February 1993 issue.

“Do I repeat myself? Yes but then history always repeats itself.” We’d give Shah Rukh’s confidence a ten on ten rating, going by this quote which was first published in an October 1995 issue of Filmfare magazine.

“I’d like to believe that there’s a little bit of Hitler and Napoleon in me. Even if I try, I can’t be as selfless as Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teresa”, revealed SRK in a candid interview published in the January 1999 edition of Filmfare magazine.

“If I talk to a girl, it’s assumed I’m having a scene with her. If I don’t, then it’s assumed I’m gay”, Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t hesitate when he sits down for a candid confession. And we were floored when we first read his no-holds- barred interview printed in the November 1999 issue of Filmfare.

“I think there’s an invisible chord which binds Aamir, Salman and me. I speak for all three of us and with a lot of conviction – we are utterly fond of one another”, said Shah Rukh in a November 2005 edition of Filmfare. And as destiny would have it, we’ve seen the three Khans come together on many a special occasion, one of which was at Anant Ambani’s wedding festivities, held earlier this year.

More power to SRK and here’s wishing that he continues to regale us with many more anecodtes and quotes in the years to come. Here’s Shah Rukh Khan’s most memorable quotes from his Filmfare interviews. Continue reading …Read More
