Oscars 2025 to take place despite Los Angeles wildfires

There were rumors that the 2025 Oscars could be cancelled because of the wildfires in Los Angeles. Some claimed it could be the first time the event was called off.
The Film Academy quickly denied these rumours, confirming the Oscars will go ahead as planned on March 2, 2025. They said the ceremony has never been cancelled, even during COVID-19.
Rumours also suggested a group of A-list stars were overseeing the situation, but this wasn’t true. The Academy’s board of governors is making the decisions.
Some board members have been affected by the fires, but the Academy has extended the voting period and made changes to other events. They also plan to raise funds for wildfire victims during the ceremony.
