EXCLUSIVE: Renee Zellweger is moved by Bridget Jones and Danielâs evolution

Actress Renee Zellweger is back as the iconic rom-com heroine Bridget Jones 25 years after the original’s release. In Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the actress reunites with Hugh Grant and Colin Firth. Ahead of the film’s release on Valentine’s Day, Zellweger reflected on Bridget and Grant’s Daniel.

Opening up about Bridget and Daniel’s relationship over the instalments, Renne Zellweger shared, “The dynamic evolves and it becomes something so much more important than you ever thought it could. It moved me so much to read how Bridget and Daniel have evolved to this place.”

She added, “Having grown myself, alongside Bridget, that inevitable evolution, when you reach a certain age… it’s wonderful and so special.”

Renee reunited with Hugh at the premiere of the film in Paris. Their red-carpet appearance left millennials nostalgic. Bridget Jones’s Diary was released back in 2001. The upcoming film Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy which also features new cast additions including Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall will release in theatres on February 14, 2025.
