Chhaava Box Office Collection: Vicky Kaushalâs period film opens well

Laxman Uterkar’s latest film Chhaava starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, was released on February 14, 2025. The lavishly mounted historical drama revolves around the life and times of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The film reportedly had a big Valentine’s Day opening at the box office.
Chhaava’s Day 1 box office collection
As per reports on Sacnilk.com, Chhaava has earned a whopping Rs 31 corer on its opening day. In the Hindi market, the film reportedly had an overall occupancy of 42.02 per cent with Pune taking the lead. The city witnessed 79.75 per cent occupancy while Mumbai saw 62.50 per cent occupancy. Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru came in at 56.75 per cent, 35.50 per cent, and 34.75 per cent respectively.
Chhaava vs Captain America: Brave New World
According to Sacnilk.com, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest entrant has had a slow opening at the box office. The film earned an estimated Rs 4.3 crore on Day 1. While Marvel movies are a crowd-favourite, the Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford and Danny Ramirez starrer Brave New World was most likely affected by Chhaava’s popularity in India.

Chhaava succeeds in delivering a high-intensity action film, anchored by Vicky Kaushal’s powerhouse performance. However, it falls short in fully capturing the complexities of Sambhaji’s character, leaving much of his multifaceted legacy unexplored. The film is a stirring tribute to the warrior king, but it could have delved deeper into the man behind the legend.
