Gossip Girl star Michelle Trachtenberg Passes Away at 39

Michelle Trachtenberg, best known for her roles in Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has tragically passed away at the age of 39. She was reportedly found unconscious and unresponsive in her Manhattan apartment on Wednesday morning. The cause of death has not been confirmed, but authorities maintain that there is no suspicion of foul play. According to the New York Post, Trachtenberg recently had a liver transplant surgery. However, the exact cause of her death remains unclear.
As per reports, The NYPD responded to a 911 call in the morning. Emergency medical workers pronounced Trachtenberg dead at the scene. Her publicist, Gary Mantoosh, confirmed her passing in a statement on behalf of the late actress and her family. He shared, “It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away.”
He added, “The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time.”
Who was Michelle Trachtenberg?
Michelle was a New York-born actress who began her career in entertainment at a very young age. She started appearing in advertisements at three years old before landing her first major film role in 1996’s Harriet the Spy.
Her breakout role was in 2000 when she joined the cast of the supernatural drama show Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Dawn Summers, the younger sister of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy. She remained on the show through its final season in 2003.
Trachtenberg found success again on the hit teen drama Gossip Girl which also featured Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick and more. The actress played socialite Georgina Sparks. She also briefly reprised the role for the show’s reboot on HBO Max. Her passing has left the entertainment industry and fans in mourning.
