Kannada Actress Ranya Rao Arrested At Bengaluru Airport For Carrying 14.8 Kg Gold

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested Kannada actress Ranya Rao for carrying approximately 14.8 kgs of gold. According to reports, she was arrested from Bengaluru airport and was presented before an economic offences court, which remanded her to 14 days in judicial custody.
Ranya Rao is the stepdaughter of a senior IPS officer from Karnataka, K. Ramachandra Rao. He is serving as Director-General of Police (DGP) at Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation. She earned her engineering degree at Bangalore’s Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. Later, she enrolled at Kishore Namit Kapoor Performing Institute to purse performance and theatre.
Ranya Rao had arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru from Dubai on an Emirates flight. She had been under surveillance due to her frequent international travel. The authorities reportedly sensed something when they found out that the actress made four trips to Dubai in the last fifteen days. The cops began a investigating when she returned on Monday.
The investigations currently suggest that Ranya also used her connections to surpass custom checks at the airports. Upon landing, she also reportedly claimed to be the daughter of Karnataka’s Director General of Police and contacted local police personnel to escort her home. Other reports state that she allegedly smuggled gold by wearing some and concealing gold bars in her clothes during her travels.
