Anurag Kashyap has announced the short film debut of Vijesh Rajan and Yashoda Parthasarthy. The film, The Last Ride, will premiere at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.
Vijesh Rajan and Yashoda Parthasarthy previously worked as motion designers and VFX supervisors in Gangs of Wasseypur.
Announcing the happy news on Instagram, Anurag Kashyap wrote, “Proud to present this dynamic, funny, thrilling short by Vijesh Rajan and Yashoda Parthasarthy, the first-time filmmaking duo.
“Vijesh joined us in the VFX team on Gangs and did the title sequence of Raman Raghav 2.0, has done so much on his long journey since he landed in India and now he is a filmmaker along with his partner in crime Yashoda.”
He added, “What a first film with participation from some wonderful actors Chandan Roy, Aamir Dalvi, Faisal Malik and Dheer Hira. Produced by my fantastic producers @cinemakasam and @vishesh_a and #Rajan.E.P.K . The film premieres in the market of the prestigious @clermontisff. This is gonna go a long way.”
The Last Ride revolves around a Mumbai ride-share driver named Aman, who is on a quest to get dowry money for his sister’s wedding.
His night takes an unexpected turn when he picks up a mysterious passenger – a Chudail (demonic witch). The supernatural encounter compels him to face more profound realities of morality and urban survival.
Anurag Kashyap is producing the film alongside Ranjan Singh, Vishesh Agrawal, and Rajan E.P.K.
