Exclusive: Gauri Khan on marrying Shah Rukh Khan at a young age

Gauri Khan is not just another star wife, she is an entrepreneur and an ace producer of Bollywood. She has been in the industry as long as her better half, and has often been photographed alongside her family – cheering aloud for her husband Shah Rukh Khan and kids Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan, and AbRam Khan. While she mostly remains private about her family, Gauri Khan had once shared tidbits about her early marriage and decision to start a family with SRK. During an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Gauri opened up on marrying the actor at the age of 22 and how the decision impacted her.

Opening up on Shah Rukh’s dream of becoming an actor, Gauri noted that he had moved to Bombay, but wanted Gauri to move with him. “He got a couple of good offers but insisted he’d shift base only if I married him,” she added. When asked about the reason for Shah Rukh’s insistence, she said, “He was terrified that the magazines would link him with his co-stars, that I’d read all that junk, and refuse to marry him. He was right. Anyway, since he was spending all the money he earned travelling up and down, I decided that we might as well take the plunge.”
