Exclusive: Kiran Rao discusses social mediaâs impact on Azaad

In a recent episode of In the Ring with Filmfare, filmmaker Kiran Rao shared her thoughts on the impact of social media and online gaming on the youth, particularly on her son Azaad.

She remarked, “It’s now become literally like a tool, as they use it like a pen. He (Azaad) is on social media, he is playing games—sometimes multiplayer—so he is engaging with people online, which, for a parent, can feel quite threatening. There are all kinds of things that happen to kids online. So, I am not just worried about the dangers of online behaviour and how they can influence, but also the fact that the traditional ways of communication have diminished. For instance, you don’t read anymore.”

Azaad Rao Khan is the son of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and filmmaker Kiran Rao. He was born on December 5, 2011, via surrogacy. Even after separation, they have maintained an amicable relationship and continue to co-parent Azaad, often seen spending time together as a family.
