Former BIGBANG member T.O.P opens up about his past controversies
2 min readFormer BIGBANG member Choi Seung Hyun aka T.O.P made his return to the spotlight with the second season of Squid Game. During a recent interview, he finally opened up about his past controversies and spoke about his current relationship with the BIGBANG members.
Addressing his past outburst, he said, “I caused great harm to both BIGBANG and my former company due to my past mistakes.”
He continued, “Now, I have to move forward on my own and I believe I must endure the criticism that comes with it. If I were to return to the team that I caused harm to, the team members would also be labeled for the past mistakes that I made, and I woldn’t be able to face them. The suffering within me is so great that I’ve been saying for a long time that I want to leave.”
He further added that he left the group because he was driven by a deep sense of guilt, he said “It’s a pain only those directly involved can understand.” He revealed that he is not in contact with his former band members at the moment as he feels too guilty to reach out.
For the uninitiated, T.O.P was embroiled in a drug scandal and in 2017, he was sentenced to 10 months in prison. We was convicted of marijuana use which is illegal in South Korea. He had to quit his band and made his comeback in 2024 in the globally popular series Squid Game.
