Gene Hackman and His Wife Found Dead At Their New Mexico Residence

In a shocking and heartbreaking turn of events, two-time Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman was found dead, alongside his wife Betsy Arakawa and their dog. The actor was 95 while his wife was 63. The couple were found dead in their Santa Fe house. The Santa Fe County Sheriff, Adan Mendoza, confirmed the tragic deaths but assured that no foul play was suspected. The cause of death remains under investigation.
As per a noted media house that quoted Mendonza, “We can confirm that both Gene Hackman and his wife were found dead Wednesday afternoon at their residence on Sunset Trail. This is an active investigation – however, at this time we do not believe that foul play was a factor. All I can say is that we’re in the middle of a preliminary death investigation, waiting on approval of a search warrant.”
Gene Hackman’s death marks the end of an era in Hollywood. He had a career spanning five decades. The late actor bagged two Academy Awards – one the Best Actor Award for The French Connection and the other Best Supporting Actor for Unforgiven. He debuted in showbiz in 1960 and rose to fame with his impeccable portrayal of Lex Luthor in the Superman series.
Besides the Oscars, he was also the proud recipient of awards such as the Golden Globe, BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Over the span of his career, Hackman collaborated with some legendary names such as Francis Ford Coppola in The Conversation and Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven. Some of his other noted films include Enemy of the State, The Royal Tenenbaums, Young Frankenstein and Mississippi Burning among others.
Gene Hackman’s last film was Welcome to Mooseport in 2004. After that, he appeared in a couple of TV shows and lent his voice to the documentaries The Unknown Flag Raiser of Iwo Jima (2016) and We, the Marines (2017). Gene Hackman’s legacy as one of Hollywood’s finest actors will live on through his iconic body of work.
