Jani Master gets interim bail to attend National Film Awards

Choreographer Jani Master has received interim bail from October 6 to 10 to attend the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8. He is set to receive the Best Choreography award for his outstanding work in the Tamil film Thiruchitrabalam. He is out on a condition that he surrenders in court by 10:30 am on October 10.

Jani Master was arrested in Goa following a complaint by a 21-year-old woman from Madhya Pradesh who alleged that he sexually assaulted her while she was working as his assistant choreographer. He was brought to Hyderabad where a city court had remanded him to 14-day judicial custody.  As per the woman, she met him at an event in 2017. Jani Master offered her a position as an assistant choreographer in 2019 and the assault took place in Mumbai where they were or a show. She also alleged that Jani Master threatened her with physical violence if she went to the police and also mentally harassed her.

The woman was 16 at the time of the alleged assault.
Singer and actress Chinmayi Sripada reacted to Jani Master’s interim bail and wrote, Chinmayi Sripaada wrote, “Jani Master confessed to sexually assaulting a minor. He gets bail to receive a National Award. India.”

The complainant further alleged that Jani Master forced her to convert to his religion and marry him when she was a minor, besides demanding sexual favours.
