Mithun Chakraborty to receive Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty will be felicitated with the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award at the 70th National Film Awards on October 8. 

Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made the announcement on social media and wrote, “Mithun Da’s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations! Honoured to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award legendary actor, Sh. Mithun Chakraborty Ji for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema. Ã°ÂŸÂ—“ï¸Â�To be presented at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on Oct 8, 2024.”

The veteran actor made his debut in 1976 with Mrinal Sen’s film Mrigayaa. This film bagged him his first National Award for Best Actor. He made his Bengali film debut in 1978 with Nadi Theke Sagare and soon rose to stardom with films such as Shaukeen, Ashanti, Disco Dancer, Troyee, Ranjeeta and Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki among others.
