Music icon Richard Perry passes away at 82

Legendary music producer Richard Perry passed away on December 24 at the age of 82 after suffering a cardiac arrest. He died in a Los Angeles hospital, leaving a significant impact on the music industry. Perry was known for his work with iconic artists like Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Art Garfunkel, and Carly Simon, notably producing her hit You’re So Vain.

Perry’s career spanned decades, and he worked on a variety of notable projects, including producing Rod Stewart’s The Great American Songbook series and collaborating with Ringo Starr on his debut solo album. He was also involved in creating hits for The Pointer Sisters and Julio Iglesias & Willie Nelson.

In a tribute, longtime friend Daphna Kastner remembered Perry as a generous, fun, and sweet person, adding that the world was a little less sweet without him. Perry had been battling Parkinson’s disease for the past month, though he remained in good spirits before his passing.

Throughout his career, Perry earned numerous accolades, including a Grammy Trustee Award in 2015.
