Actress Nithya Menen recently opened up about the clear-cut hierarchy in the film industry. She is promoting her film Kadhalikka Neramillai. In a rare instance, her name was placed on the poster before Jayam Ravi’s name.

The actress, when asked about it said that there is a hierarchy in the industry and the hero and director always come before the female lead.

“There is a clear-cut hierarchy, right? Hero, director, heroine – hierarchy, That’s how it is. That’s how your caravans are placed, that’s how you are called on stage. This is so small minded, just be normal. Be natural. Give people credit where they deserve, whether they are a woman or man.”

Meanwhile, Jayam Ravi recently spoke about putting Nithya’s name before his and said, “Many have asked why Nithya Menen’s name appears before mine in the credits. They wonder what gives me the confidence to do this. I can only say it’s self-confidence. There is nothing else. I have always strived to break stereotypes – whether it’s making a zombie film, a space movie, or anything new. I thought, ‘Why not break this tradition too?'”

He further credited Shah Rukh Khan for this and said he adopted this habit from the Bollywood star.

“I adopted this habit from Shah Rukh Khan, who was the first to list his heroine’s name before his own. Similarly, when I work with a female director, I want to continue this practice. I’m grateful to my fans for their support. Together, men and women create balance; neither exists without the other,” said Jayam Ravi.

Nithya Menen will be seen in Kadhalikka Neramillai with Jayam Ravi. Continue reading …Read More
