Oscars 2025: Shahana Goswami reacts as Santosh gets shortlisted

The Oscars 2025 shortlist is out and unfortunately, India’s entry to the Oscars, Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies did not make it to the race for the Best Foreign Feature Film category. However, Santosh, a Hindi-language film from the United Kingdom has been shortlisted.

Now, actress Shahana Goswami who stars in Sandhya Suri’s Santosh, has reacted to the big news. Taking to her social media handle, the actress wrote, “So happy for the team especially our writer-director Sandhya Suri for this little glory of recognition for our film Santosh! How incredible to be shortlisted from amongst 85 films. Thank you to everyone who loved it, supported it and voted for it.”

Santosh is about a widowed woman named Santosh (played by Shahana Goswami) who takes on her deceased husband’s job as a police officer. She gets embroiled in an investigation after a lower-caste girl is killed. The film which also features Sunita Rajwar had its global premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies starring Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta and Sparsh Shrivastava, among others, was India’s official entry to the Oscars 2025. While the film did not make it, here’s the full shortlist:
