Preity Zinta Denies Congressâ Claims Says Loan Was Fully Repaid

2 min read

Preity Zinta recently found herself in a political controversy after the Congress party alleged that the BJP helped her secure an ₹18 crore loan waiver. The Kerala Congress even claimed that she had handed over control of her social media accounts to the BJP in exchange for this favour.

Responding to these accusations, Preity firmly denied the claims, stating that she manages her own social media. She expressed disappointment over how easily misinformation spreads and how public figures are often dragged into political agendas without any basis. When a fan asked if she would sue Rahul Gandhi for defamation, she took a neutral stance, saying, “I don’t think it’s fair to vilify anyone like that, as he is not responsible for someone else’s actions. I believe in handling problems or issues directly & not through proxy battles. I also have no problem with Rahul Gandhi, so let him live in peace & I will live in peace too.”

She also addressed the allegations about the loan, clarifying that it had been fully repaid years ago. Criticizing the Congress party for spreading misinformation, she wrote, “No, I operate my social media accounts myself, and shame on you for promoting FAKE NEWS! No one wrote off anything or any loan for me. I’m shocked that a political party or their representative is promoting fake news & indulging in vile gossip & click baits using my name & images.”

Preity also emphasized that being an independent woman, she has always managed her finances responsibly and does not need political favours. Further setting the record straight, she added, “For the record, a loan was taken and FULLY PAID BACK over 10 years ago. Hope this clarifies and helps so there are no misunderstandings in the future.”

On the professional front, Preity Zinta is gearing up for her return to the big screen with Lahore 1947, a historical drama directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan. The film stars Sunny Deol and his son Karan Deol.
