Shrek’s fans would be excited to know that another instalment of the famous Shrek movie is releasing soon. Shrek 5 has been scheduled to hit the theatres on December 23, 2026. A teaser for the movie has been released, which reveals the actors giving voiceovers for the characters.

The movie features voiceovers for Shrek as Mike Meyers, Cameron Diaz as Fiona and Eddie Murphy as Donkey. Zendaya has also joined the franchise as Shrek and Fiona’s daughter. Many fans were excited about Zendaya’s addition to the franchise. Her upcoming projects also include Dune: Messiah, The Odyssey, the fourth Spider-Man film and Euphoria’s third season. She also recently appeared in Challengers and Dune: Part Two. It is also interesting that Zendaya has been introduced as the daughter because she had revealed being a Shrek fan since childhood. “I watch Shrek too often in my adulthood,” she tweeted in 2017.

In the teaser, Donkey is having a conversation with the magic mirror. He is asking, “Who is the fairest of them all?” As the answer is revealed, Shrek and Fiona are seated watching Zendaya’s character, who is now announced as their daughter. The character announcement video also features Pinocchio, whose nose begins growing when he states a lie.

The origins of the Shrek franchise include the 2001 movie about the ogre, Shrek, who falls in Fiona, the princess of Far Far Away. She was cursed and remained stuck in the body of an ogre. While the first movie began in 2001, the second one, Shrek 2, released in 2004. Shrek The Third released in 2007. Shrek Forever After released in 2010.

Shrek 5 is directed by Walt Dohrn. He also served as a writer and artiste on Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third
