T-aras Jiyeon and baseball star Hwang Jae-gyun confirm divorce

Jiyeon, a member of the popular K-pop group T-ara, and Hwang Jae-gyun, a player for KT Wiz, have reportedly filed for divorce mediation after two years of marriage. In her statement, Jiyeon explained, “Hello. This is Jiyeon. First, I want to convey my apologies for greeting you with such unfortunate news. We mutually agreed to proceed with divorce mediation. We ask for your generous understanding regarding the delay in making an official statement. I will do my best to greet you as a better version of myself in the future. Thank you.”

Rumours about their marriage problems started earlier this year, especially in June, when a baseball commentator mentioned Hwang was “getting divorced” during a live broadcast. Although Jiyeon and Hwang did not respond to these rumors at first, Jiyeon’s recent absence from social media and her choice not to wear her wedding ring made fans suspicious about their relationship.

The couple, who married in December 2022, had received much love from fans in both the music and sports worlds. Jiyeon first gained fame with T-ara in 2009, while Hwang began his professional baseball career in 2007.
