Varun Dhawan accepts that he was jealous of Sidharth Malhotra

Varun Dhawan, in a recent interaction, admitted to feeling jealous of his co-star Sidharth Malhotra during the filming of their debut movie Student Of The Year. Reflecting on that period, he shared that Sidharth’s tall and good-looking persona made him worry about being overshadowed. Varun revealed he feared that his dream of making an impact might remain unfulfilled as he wondered if audiences would even notice him.

Discussing the challenges he faced, Varun acknowledged the growing negativity surrounding nepotism back then. He stated that despite working hard, the perception of privilege was difficult to combat. He admitted he entered the industry without a concrete plan but believed in his own efforts, even as people had differing opinions.

Varun explained that he had to fight against these perceptions through his work and performances. He shared that while his father, David Dhawan, gave him a chance later, public skepticism remained. He highlighted that the eventual success of his movies helped alter opinions and establish his credibility. 

On the professional front, Varun has an exciting lineup of films, including Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari with Janhvi Kapoor, releasing in April 2025. Other projects in the pipeline include Border 2, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, No Entry 2, and Bhediya 2.
