In a shocking turn of events, popular playback singer Kalpana Raghavendar allegedly tried committing suicide. Kalpana was reportedly found unconscious at her home in Nizamket after taking sleeping pills in an attempt to end her life. As per multiple reports, the neighbours called the police and found her unconscious. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and placed on a ventilator. At present she is stable, but the doctors continue to monitor her condition.
The news of Kalpana’s drastic step caused concern among her fans and members of the music industry. Details about the tragic incident remain unclear and authorities have not shared any further information about the case.
Who is Kalpana Raghavendar?
Kalpana was born into a family of musicians. Her father, T. S. Raghavendra, was a playback singer, composer, and actor. Her mother, Sulochana, is also a well-known singer. At an early age, Kalpana was trained in Carnatic music under Madurai T. Srinivasan. She also has a Master’s degree in Computer Applications.
Starting her career at the young age of five, Kaplana first appeared in the film Punnagai Mannan at the age of six years old. She made her debut as a playback singer back in 1999 with the track Mangalagouriki from Manoharam, composed by Mani Sharma. Since then, Kalpana has worked with some of the finest composers, including the iconic Ilaiyaraaja, AR Rahman. She also collaborated with artistes like SP Balasubrahmanyam and KS Chithra. She impressed fans in live performances, having performed on over 3,000 stage shows globally.
Kalpana’s most popular tracks include Poda Poda Punnaku, Premante Suluvu Kadhura and Joole Joole. Fans are well-wishers are hoping for a positive health update as the singer battles for her life in the hospital.
