Among those that stood out are Alia Bhatt’s out-and-out turn to action in Jigra. Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone continues to prove that she looks better than ever when she’s slaying in a combat scene. Elsewhere, on OTT, Samantha made strides in the genre.
As the year comes to a close, here are some actresses who nailed action.
Alia Bhatt – Jigra
Alia Bhatt went all out with action in Jigra. The Vasan Bala directorial which also features Vedang Raina is a prison break drama in which a young woman, Satya, goes to great lengths to break her younger brother out of a high-security jail in China. From firing guns to brutal hand-to-hand combat scenes, Alia has proved her mettle as an action star ahead of her highly anticipated role in the Yash Raj Films Spy Universe’s Alpha.
Shraddha Kapoor – Stree 2
Shraddha Kapoor led on one of the year’s biggest films, Stree 2. The film saw her embody the elusive Stree with a renewed conviction as she returned to Chanderi. While the actress isn’t on screen as much as her fans would like her to be, she makes quite an impact in the film’s action sequences.
Deepika Padukone – Fighter, Singham Again
After showing off her action skills in Pathaan in 2023, Deepika Padukone made a smashing return to form with Fighter and Singham Again. The former saw her star in an aerial action film alongside Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor. Needless to say, she made the Air Force uniform look cooler than ever. The actress was pregnant during the filming of Singham Again which introduced her character, Shakti Shetty into Rohit Shetty’s cop universe. Deepika was joined by Ranveer Singh, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and others. She remains a scene-stealer in both films.
Samantha – Citadel: Honey Bunny
In Raj & DK’s Indian instalment of the global spy thriller series, Citadel: Honey Bunny, Samantha gets to flex her action muscles. As Honey, the actress comes in all-guns-blazing and does some heavy lifting in the film’s action sequences. From executing slick fight scenes to the intense emotional beats, she aces all aspects of the character. It helps that the retro vibes and music leave viewers rooting for her character throughout the series.
Sharvari – Vedaa

It’s easy to see that Sharvari worked hard to get the physicality of the role right as she gives it all in the action scenes.
Saiyami Kher – Agni
Between Ghoomer and Agni, Sayami Kher seems to be establishing herself as a bankable action star. In the latter, she plays brave firefighter Avni Purohit. The film which sees her star alongside Pratik Gandhi, Divyendu and others, revolves around firefighters as they risk their lives to avert disaster in Mumbai.
